Before you install, check that your setup meets these requirements. Butter Motion runs on macOS and Windows and works as a panel inside Adobe Premiere Pro. Installing and updating go through a small desktop app, see The Butter Motion app.

Butter Motion installs as an extension panel inside Premiere Pro. Premiere Pro 2022 or newer is the supported minimum. Open Premiere and look at About Premiere Pro if you're not sure which version you have.
You need an internet connection for two things: signing in, and generating (the AI plans each animation online). Rendering the final video happens on your own machine: Butter Motion does that work in the background right there, so nothing is uploaded and there's no watermark.
A short generation still needs a working connection to start. If the panel says Butter Motion isn't responding, that's about the part working on your computer, not about your internet. See Butter Motion isn't responding.
