Plans: Free, Pro & Studio
Butter Motion has three plans. Free costs nothing and is the base plan of every account. Pro and Studio are paid subscriptions. All three run the same product and differ in three things: how many credits you get each month, whether the first AI edit of a generation is free, and how many presets fit in your cloud library.

Every plan unlocks every feature: all quality tiers, 2D and 3D, transparent backgrounds, renders up to 4K, presets, and free customization controls. Pro gives you ten times the credits of Free, a free first edit on every generation and room for 10 presets in your cloud library. Studio gives you four times the credits of Pro (and with that the better rate per generation) plus five times the room in the cloud library. It is the plan for teams and heavy users.
Free
- 50 credits arrive every month. Unused ones don't roll over: they expire when the next month's credits land.
- No card needed. You sign up on the site with just your email.
- Every edit costs 5 credits, the first one included. The free first edit comes with Pro and Studio.
- No cloud presets. Presets you save still work, they just stay on the computer that made them.
- Top-up packs work on Free. Buy one when 50 credits a month isn't enough; top-up credits never expire.
- One Free plan per email. Disposable email addresses aren't accepted.
Free can't be cancelled: it's the base plan of every account. If you cancel Pro or Studio, or a paid period ends without renewal, you move to Free on your own once the paid period is over. See Switching plans & periods.
How many generations is that?
Credits per generation depend on the tier (7 on Flash, 10 on Ultra, 15 on Animation), so the exact number varies with how you work. As a rough guide on the Ultra tier:
- Free (50 credits): about 5 generations a month, or 7 on Flash.
- Pro (500 credits): about 50 generations a month.
- Studio (2 000 credits): about 200 generations a month.
Lighter Flash generations stretch further, and Animation-heavy work goes faster. Customization and, on Pro and Studio, the free first edit don't count against this.
Run out mid-month? You don't have to upgrade. Buy a top-up pack instead. Top-up credits never expire, so they carry over even after your plan credits reset.
Monthly or annual
Pro and Studio can be billed monthly or annually. The annual option costs the price of 10 months for a full year, so you get 2 months free. Free has no billing at all.
On an annual plan the credits still arrive month by month (one twelfth of the year at a time), and each month's credits expire at the end of that month just like on a monthly plan. See How credits work for the details.
Prices
Free is $0. Paid plan prices are set in the payment provider's catalog and can change, so we don't list currency amounts here. You'll find the current prices, broken down by plan and currency for monthly and annual, on the pricing section of the site or on the Billing & subscription page in your account.
Getting a plan
Free: click Try free at the top of the site or Get Free on the Free card in the pricing section, enter your email and create the account. 50 credits land right away, and a sign-in email goes to that address.
Pro or Studio: buy it on the site, either from the pricing section on the landing page or from Billing & subscription in your account. Pick the plan, choose monthly or annual, pick your currency, enter the email you'll use for access, and pay. Your account is created and credited right after payment goes through, and the site tab opens a page with your purchase summary. Already on Free? Use the same page to upgrade.
